Early Life and Education

Luis Alberto Arce Catacora was born in La Paz, Bolivia, on September 28, 1963. He studied economics at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in La Paz and later pursued a doctorate in economics from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.

Political Career

Arce began his political career as a member of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) party. He served as Minister of Finance and Economy under President Evo Morales from 2006 to 2017.

Presidency

In 2020, Arce was elected President of Bolivia as the candidate of the MAS. He assumed office on November 8, 2020.
